Repairing a torn photograph

A tear is the most visible kind of damage and, encouragingly, one of the most repairable. Two halves that still fit together contain all the information needed to rejoin them.

Tears rejoined

Rips, splits and cracks rebuilt seamlessly — no visible line.

Corners rebuilt

Missing corners and edges reconstructed where the pattern allows.

Creases removed

Fold lines and the shadow they cast taken out without losing texture.

24-hour delivery

Most torn-photo repairs are back the next day.

Send every piece

Lay all the fragments on a flat surface, fit them together as best you can, and photograph the arrangement from directly above. Even pieces that only loosely fit give us the edges we need.

Do not tape or glue a torn print before scanning. Old tape yellows and shrinks, and it makes the repair harder rather than easier.

How the repair works

The two sides of a tear usually still match along the break, so rejoining is largely a matter of alignment and blending. Creases are removed by reconstructing the lighting across the fold rather than by blurring it.

Where a corner is genuinely missing, we extend the surrounding pattern — the background, the clothing, the border — rather than inventing content. If a missing area includes part of a face, we tell you before we proceed.

When a tear is too large

A clean split down the middle is straightforward. A photograph missing a third of its surface is a reconstruction project, and it should be priced and described as one.

We would rather decline a job than deliver a face we invented. Send the photo and we will give you a straight answer at no cost.

Common questions

Can a photo torn in half be repaired?

Yes, in almost all cases. Send a photo of both halves laid side by side and we will confirm before you pay.

What if a piece of the photo is missing entirely?

We extend the surrounding background, clothing and borders to cover the gap. If the missing area includes facial detail, we tell you upfront that this part is a reconstruction rather than a recovery.

Can you remove crease lines without making it blurry?

Yes. Creases are removed by reconstructing the lighting across the fold, not by blurring the area. The grain around the crease is preserved.
